Measurement of Radiation Emission Due to Atmospheric-Pressure Plasma Sterilization

چکیده
The field of Atmospheric-pressure plasmas has been the focus of many researchers and scientists in the past decade. These specific types of systems are favored because of the few requirements needed for its functioning. Plasmas’ use as a sterilizer is being rapidly explored. Thus, in this process it has become necessary to understand the effect of UV radiation produced during the plasma discharge. It is certain that Atmospheric plasmas’ sterilization levels are higher than to other cleansing methods, such as antibacterial solutions. Nevertheless, the reaction of the plasma creates residual components which could make the plasma’s use to be considered harmful, such as the radiation emitted by the atmospheric plasma, the amount of ozone being discharged, and other particles like nitrogen. The goal for our project was to measure the levels of ultraviolet radiation, UV, the atmosphericpressure plasmas create. Then the data obtained was to be analyzed and compared with the safety standards of the UV radiation individuals can be exposed to without being considered harmful health wise. Our method essentially consists of an indirect Atmospheric pressure plasma treatment, in which the contaminant does not come in direct contact with the plasma.

Non-thermal atmospheric pressure plasma source design and construction using Argon as the working gas for wound healing
In this research, a non-thermal atmospheric pressure plasma jet device was constructed for skin wound treatment. For this reason, five mice were treated for five consecutive days for 30 s, in a daily manner. Natural wound healing time was monitored and compared with the treated one in 12 consecutive days. The measurement of voltage, current and power waveforms of the plasma source, the optical ...

The atmospheric pressure plasma jet (APPJ) has been widely investigated for sterilization of surfaces, but studies on surface chemical changes of model compounds in controlled environments have been lacking. We present measurements on lipopolysaccharide (LPS) using x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy after 1% O2 in Ar APPJ treatments in controlled ambients composed of N2/Ar mixtures. By varying th...
متن کاملNon-thermal atmospheric pressure plasma sources for biomedical applications
It was presented that various types of non-thermal atmospheric pressure plasma sources operated with low frequency(~kHz) or microwave frequency feeding argon or helium gas, or in the ambient air could be used for the treatment of cancer cells, sterilization, tooth whitening, and blood coagulation. The antibody-conjugated GNPs enhanced to kill cancer cells exposed to plasmas. The plasmas treatme...
